Janeiro

Janeiro is a Portuguese composer, musician and producer whose work moves between pop, jazz, electronic music, bossa nova and Portuguese song. Born in Coimbra, he left home at 18 to study Jazz at the Hot Clube de Portugal and Musicology at NOVA University Lisbon. He released his self-titled debut EP, Janeiro, in 2015, followed by Frag•men•tos (2018), Sem Tempo and Com Tempo (2020), and FUGACIDADE (2024). In 2017, he created the Janeiro Sessions, an intimate series filmed in his living room, bringing together conversations and live performances with improvisation and songs. The project later evolved into a film and a live tour around the country. In 2018, invited by Salvador Sobral, Janeiro composed “(sem título)” for Festival da Canção and presented his first album after it. His work is rooted in songwriting, but constantly moves beyond it - through improvisation, electronic production, brazilian influences, portuguese musical traditions, house and songs. FUGACIDADE, his last album, was nominated for Best Contemporary Pop Album in Portuguese at the 2025 Latin Grammys®. janeiro® 2026
