Biography & Metadata

Johannes Wasikowski (Leipzig, Germany) is a rising figure in contemporary piano music—often referred to as Neo-Classical—occupying the space between classical, jazz, and ambient pop. Inspired by artists such as Nils Frahm, Hania Rani, and Tigran Hamasyan, his compositions are defined by clarity, introverted treasures, and vivid soundscapes. With exceptional technique, joyful expression, and compositional depth, Wasikowski brings a new dimension to the solo piano genre, proving there is still much to be added to the canvas. Following extensive touring at home and abroad—including appearances at the Piano City Festival in Madrid and collaborations with the Goethe-Institut in Barcelona—as well as inspiring interdisciplinary projects with dance and theater companies, Wasikowski is now opening his next chapter. With his new album, “New Beginnings,” he consciously sets a counterpoint to the fast-paced nature of today's digital music landscape. The album stands as a manifesto for craftsmanship, improvisation, and the courage to embrace long-form storytelling. Recorded at the legendary Funkhaus Berlin inside Nils Frahm’s studio alongside Grammy-winning sound engineer Antonio Pulli and producer Sascha Hünermund, the album unfolds an extraordinary sonic depth. Live on stage, Johannes Wasikowski weaves emotional piano passages together with dynamic synthesizer textures into a captivating, organic concert experience.
