Nick Bhalla

Nick's solo piano music has an open, spacey sound that leaves room for listeners to disappear into introspective ruminations and hopes for the future. Nick’s newest album Empire (April 2024) is a spacious suite of explorations for solo piano, with plenty of room for improvisation & surprising twists of harmony. “Nick Bhalla creates a world that is both far away and homey, still and moving.” - Jeremy Ylvisaker (Andrew Bird, the Suburbs, Alpha Consumer) “Nick has captured a moment in time, and his melodies & harmonic textures evoke an escape from the ennui of life in postmodern society.” - Colin Loynachan (the Swamp studio) “Nick Bhalla is always searching and experimenting. [...] He strives for constant development and is not afraid to try new things. The composition "Grey Rainbow" is characterized by a great balance between technical complexity and emotional intensity. Each note is executed with precision and feeling, which gives the work a unique character. Vivid dynamic contrasts emphasize the musical depth and fill the piece with vivid emotions.” - Music Dances When You Sleep You can find Nick in the Minneapolis music scene with projects including Dusty Forever, Neopolitan, Grand Lilac, Steady Range (FKA Fragile Canyons), & Big Blue Moon.
