André Aguado

André Aguado is the creative moniker of Swedish-born artist Mikael André Mattisson. Conceived as an artistic alter ego, André Aguado embodies the warmth and romanticism of Southern Europe — a persona crafted to channel his admiration for the sea, sun, and culture that define the Mediterranean spirit. Aguado, meaning "watered" in Spanish, was chosen as a poetic nod to the ocean. Raised in a musically rich environment, Mikael's early years were shaped by the rhythms of gospel, the improvisational language of jazz, and a wide range of other sonic influences. A talented drummer from a young age, he honed his skills through both family tradition and formal music education. It was during his studies that he discovered a profound passion for music production — a pursuit that quickly became a driving force in his creative journey. As André Aguado, he blends organic instrumentation with electronic textures, drawing from his roots while pushing into new sonic territories. His work reflects a fusion of rhythmic complexity and emotional depth, echoing both his percussive background and Mediterranean muse.
