Biography & Metadata

Artist homepage: www.bobbaldwin.com * Pianist/Arranger Bob Baldwin is the first artist this century to release a smooth and straight ahead album on the same day. His work ethic and staunch views on independent distribution is a rare feat in these jazziest of times. He has also released 11 cd’s at once, another FIRST in his field. New York native Bob Baldwin has composed and/or arranged over 480 songs, and has recorded on six of the seven global continents. While Antarctica is not on his bucket list, his impressive list includes places like Dubai, Brazil, South Africa, Spain, UK, Canada. Pandemic conditions allowed him to record even more music with the "Stay-At-Home" project (2021). Bob’s first recording was a supporting piano track for Melba Moore (mid-‘80’s) but caught a break landing his first production gig with Tom Browne (1988) on the now-defunct Malaco Jazz. That led to his project A Long Way to Go... in ‘88, which earned him a Sony Innovators Award selected by Roberta Flack and deal on Atlantic Records in 1990. In 2018, he dropped a record-setting 10 soloists on one track with his Club Life - Extended Version track. His 'theme' projects of Stevie Wonder, Thom Bell and Michael Jackson have all charted top 15 on the Billboard Jazz charts, and “Never Can Say Goodbye" and gospel-jazzed Never out of Season (Remixed and Re-Mastered) - revisits the spirit of hi-def. What's next? An invention? Another book? Stay tuned.
