True Faith

A group of recording studio musicians released a demo in 1992 that would become one of the defining moments of Filipino music in the 1990s. “Perfect” made such a huge splash it thrust the band Truefaith, headed by lead singer Medwin Marfil (with co-founders, Francis Guevarra and Ferdie Marquez) into the spotlight instantaneously. Since then Truefaith - w/ their own brand of OPM (Original Pilipino Music) that is a delightful mix of folk, pop-jazz, 1980s new wave & Pinoy sentimentality - has made several successful albums, a string of hit songs (Muntik Nang Maabot ang Langit, Huwag Na Lang Kaya, Kung OK Lang Sa Yo, Dahil Ikaw, Paano Ka Magiging Akin) a bunch of awards (Awit Awards, MYX & MTV awards) & generation after generation of fans who accord the band w/ well-deserved adulation online & in the live music scene. Several member changes have transpired since their heyday as Philippine music’s “It Band.” In the past decade, w/ Medwin as the remaining original member, the line-up of Allan Elgar (lead guitar), Macky Macaventa (bass), Jake Lumacad (keyboards), Eugene Marfil (acoustic guitar) & Kaka Quisumbing (drums) have continued to pursue the adventures of being a band that exists to create exquisite, exciting music that every Filipino can relate to. Truefaith’s zeal is to make more music w/in the boundaries of their usual unique style & sound. Or maybe somewhat break out of those parameters once in a while, but still familiarly faithful to being Truefaith.
