IOU1

After years of friendship, the members of IOU1 first began to collaborate on this album during late-night jam sessions in Astoria, Queens, circa 2017. However, before any recordings could be completed, life intervened, pulling each band member in a different direction. After finally reuniting to finish what they’d started, it was immediately clear that each member of the band brought a unique perspective from their lived and professional experiences (including founding a record label, Hollywood screenwriting, and music production). Their music was dominated by themes of pushing back against technology, seeking truth, finding love, and a desire to help build a better world. This shared vision, unintentionally, inspired a cohesive concept for the album. IOU1’s debut record, Book One: Dream Machine, is the first phase of an ever-expanding multi-media project that tells a story, builds out a sci-fi world, and delivers rock-heavy / emotionally poignant music with every release.
