His music career started in the early 1980’s and his rap name, Kid Frost, is a tribute to the rapper Ice-T, who he often battled at Hip-Hop functions in the Los Angeles area. A proud Mexican American, and Army veteran, Kid Frost wanted to showcase his Mexican heritage in his rhymes and videos. This was something that hadn’t been heard, or seen, before in Hip-Hop music. His song and video for La Raza took the world by storm and launched the first wave of the Urban Latino music movement, which is now the most popular musical genre in the United States.
