Biography & Metadata

Music by Jeremy (MbJ) is the solo project of a UK-based songwriter making his fully independent debut with the double album "A Well Worn Path." It started with a bunch of songs written for a long-planned collaboration that, for the usual musical reasons, never quite got off the ground. But the songs were there and they were demanding to be recorded. Jeremy's solution was unconventional: if the human band wasn't going to happen, he would make one. Writing on his old Faith acoustic and arranging in Ableton, Jeremy plays the guitars and bass. For the rest, he turned to generative AI. Not as a shortcut; he painstakingly trained vocal models on his own voice and guided them with his own performances, using the technology as a prosthetic to extend his reach rather than a replacement for his intent. And then something unexpected started to happen. Working with inanimate bandmates who don't argue, don't get tired, and don't judge meant he could stop performing and start being honest. What started coming back in the mixes was absolute raw feeling. This is the sound of joyous realism, refusing to flinch from the hard things: grief, dependency, moral failure, while never losing its sense of humour or its wonder at the world. Songs that go to places normally kept hidden, things carried for decades and rarely said out loud. None of it shocking, all of it true. And when the path turns out, against all reasonable expectation, to have been very much worth walking.
