M@

M@ (pronounced “M-Att”) is the solo project of Matt Baumbach, founding guitarist of influential New York hardcore band Vision of Disorder. Stepping beyond the heaviness of his roots, Baumbach explores a more personal world of alternative rock, post-punk, melody, atmosphere, and emotionally direct songwriting. Since launching M@, the project has begun earning attention beyond Baumbach’s established legacy, including recognition from SPIN as part of its “Now Hear This” series. Written, performed, and produced with a fiercely independent approach, M@ represents a new chapter for an artist who has spent decades pushing against genre boundaries—music shaped by experience, but driven by the need to create something entirely his own.
