Biography & Metadata

Julian Vaughn is a dynamic lead bass player hailing from Kansas City, who has established an international reputation since bursting onto the music scene in 2010. With a career spanning 16 years in the smooth jazz genre, Vaughn's distinctive style blends elements of smooth finesse and funk, honed during his time performing in churches where his grandfather and father served as pastors. Having extensively toured the U.S. and abroad, Vaughn takes pride in his ability to both write and produce his music, aspiring to be recognized as a talented songwriter and producer in addition to his prowess as a musician. He has released a total of 8 albums, with 8 Billboard #1 hits - five as a solo artist and three as a featured artist, alongside numerous top 10 chart placements. In 2020, Vaughn claimed the #2 spot for Artist of the Year and had two of his tracks, "Afro Calypso" and "Afternoon Delight", rank #2 and #17 respectively on Billboard's Songs of the Year list. After transitioning to an independent artist in 2022, Vaughn has released two successful albums - "Solo" in 2022 and "Follow Me" in 2025, both featuring multiple Billboard top 5 songs. With over 44 million lifetime streams of his music, Vaughn continues to push boundaries and redefine the role of lead bassist within the smooth jazz genre. Fans can look forward to his highly anticipated ninth album, slated for release in the early Fall of 2026.
