Biography & Metadata
Leo Leonard is a French pop musician and songwriter based in Paris, gazing out, digging in, putting in the work. Teenage drummer in the indie rock band Coming Soon, then half of the acclaimed electronic act The Pirouettes, he’s sharpened his craft from a very young age. He has recently embarked on a solo career, using his unique knack for catchy melodies to express deeply personal feelings - sometimes heavy, sometimes light. At 10, he wrote, composed and recorded his first songs: one of them, Vampire, would later make its way to the soundtrack of Jason Reitman’s Juno. In 2005, Leo formed the indie rock collective Coming Soon with his brother and a friend. The band was noticed upon the release of its first album New Grids in 2008, seducing both critics and audiences with their DIY, voodoo folk. Since then, Coming Soon has released 5 albums and numerous EPs. Leo and Vickie Cherie formed the French pop duo The Pirouettes in 2011. After two EPs, they released a first successful album in 2016, Carrément carrément. Then came Monopolis (2018) and Equilibre (2021). After many tours in France and abroad (with great highlight: sold-out concerts at La Cigale, Le Trianon and L’Olympia), and many collaborations, The Pirouettes has become one of the most striking and endearing figures of the French pop scene. In 2021, L'escalier became gold single. Eventually, the couple broke up and the band did split. Leo then began a solo career.
