A former NCAA athlete turned hyper-creative powerhouse, Michael McCloud now known as BLCKBUTTERFLY walked away from the court to chase a wilder dream. He’s modeled for Nike and Ralph Lauren, acted in global campaigns, and lent his voice to a Super Bowl ad, but music and visual storytelling are where his spirit lives. After years in LA and NYC, he found deeper clarity in South Africa, where the mask came off and the wings came out. In 2022, he shed his old name “Sellah” and claimed one that fully reflected his metamorphosis. BLCKBUTTERFLY is his love letter to queerness, to reinvention, to doing it all yourself when no one else gets the vision. His work is part spell, part mirror, part archive of becoming.
