22 years ago, the second and so far final album by Fictional, a side project of Gerrit Thomas, producer of Eisfabrik and Funker Vogt, was released. Launched in 1999 as a synthpop project, the project will continue in 2025 with seven guest vocalists, five singles, and its third album. The single "Your Whisper" kicks off this release series, featuring Christian Schottstaedt on guest vocals. Schottstaedt is known through his own bands and projects, Forced to Mode, Forced Movement, and Part, as well as through features with artists such as Paul van Dyk and Morphose. "Your Whisper" will be released on May 16, 2025, as a digital single with five different versions on all major download and streaming platforms. It is the first precursor to the album "Some Great Constructions," which will be released in October and is intended as a homage to 1980s synth pop and thus to Thomas's musical roots. As the album title suggests, the focus is on arguably the most influential band in this genre, with Thomas's signature style remaining recognizable throughout. In addition to the single edit, Gerrit Thomas himself created three additional versions, all of which feature a more modern styling. The club mix, co-produced with Christian Schottstaedt, is sure to get any dance floor moving. The latter presents an unexpected interpretation with the "Crisp Up" version. This version features a faster tempo and a distinctive guitar sound, creating a rock-infused sound.
