Biography & Metadata

shugE is a prolific songwriter & performer who toured the country often from 2004-2012 as a solo artist & as the songwriter/front-person for the bands SORRY OK & Hayduke Lives. During that period shugE released numerous albums, received support from independent & college radio stations across North America, and built a loyal fanbase. shugE performed in front of growing crowds, culminating in a performance on the coveted First Avenue Mainroom stage just prior to announcing his hiatus. shugE was also one of the flagship artists signed to the Minneapolis-based independent label Anti-Civ Records & was featured heavily in the 2008 documentary about Anti-Civ Records & the Minneapolis warehouse venue managed by the label. In 2013 shugE went on hiatus to fight a long, drawn out child custody battle & was triumphantly able to return to performing in 2022. When shugE ended his hiatus in 2022 he released the album “first winter”, started performing around the Twin Cities again, & immediately received support from from college & independent radio stations across North America (including performing in-studio at several Minnesota radio stations). Simply put, shugE is a force of nature that cuts his heart out & leaves it on stages in front of audiences.
