Biography & Metadata
Bob Reynolds is a three-time Grammy Award-winning saxophonist known for combining groove, melodic clarity, and improvisational risk. A longtime member of Snarky Puppy and a bandleader with more than a dozen albums to his name, he balances collaborative work with projects built around his own compositions — most recently Eddie Told Me So. On Eddie Told Me So, Reynolds revisits the groove-oriented acoustic jazz that first shaped his musical identity. Inspired by the spirit of Eddie Harris, the album leans into strong melodies, soulful swing, and a melodic improvisational style. On Snarky Puppy's latest release, Somni, Reynolds contributes a full range of his talents — the emotional depth of "Between Worlds," the unleashed energy of "Recurrent," and the signature tone that's become instantly recognizable on "Drift." After graduating from Berklee College of Music, where he was mentored by George Garzone and Hal Crook, he spent years on the New York jazz scene and eventually toured extensively with John Mayer. He is a professor of jazz saxophone at the USC Thornton School of Music and maintains the longest-running online studio for jazz saxophonists. For fifteen years he's helped thousands of players worldwide discover the practice and improvisational concepts that have shaped his own playing. What ties it all together is a commitment to music that connects. Reynolds is a saxophonist who wants you to feel it before you think about it.
