Biography & Metadata

Born in Indianapolis, IN Ill Smith came into this world as Ian Smith. With a violent and inquisitive childhood, Ian became really interested in a new Music called Hip-Hop. The name Ill came from a joke once told by his brother Sean Hampton when he was a boy. On this day in 1986 Ill was created and a long history of MC's. Spending his childhood in Roth, Germany. Ill began his training to become the greatest of the greatest MC's and has appeared in numerous cities across the United States, living earlier years in the New Orleans, LA area and the Tacoma/ Seattle area. After an altercation with local East-German children in the year following 1989 when the Berlin wall was taken down, then where his(Ian's) left hand was smashed through a glass door by a German Adult. Ill grew a Diamond at the tip of his wedding finger; shortly after growing three dots(beauty scars) in the shape of a triangle below the diamond. A symbol that life's beautiful things can come from darkest of situations. Ill Smith is a genre-defying artist delivering future funk, hip hop soul, and undeniable liveness. With his latest single “The Coca Club” featuring B-Hype the Verbal, previous hit “Pull Up In A Spaceship” ft. The Young Man NÜK, and album Could Kill Everything, Ill Smith brings heavy basslines, infectious melodies, and next-level energy that moves the planet. Known for blending classic groove with 2026 innovation, Ill Smith continues to push boundaries.
