Biography & Metadata
Melinda Joy is a multi-award-winning musician, author, and filmmaker. A singer-songwriter & bass player, her music interweaves poetic lyrics with bass and melody lines drawn from a variety of genres. Soulful, jazzy, and lush, her sound has been described as "Southern Gothic." She currently composes and performs both solo and with Son of Cormack and HoneyBones (a new duo project with Juro Kosec). Her newest single, Deadly released in October of 2026. Her previous single, Too Late (2026), featuring JT Martin, is a meditation on impermanence and living fully, without hesitation. Out of the Blue (2026), a duet with Son of Cormack, has won numerous awards and recognitions from film festivals for Best Music Video, Best Original Song, and Best Original Music. Reviewers noted "a whimsical blend of dreamy indie folk, Americana rock, and beautifully balanced vocals" (It's All Indie) and its "cinematic atmosphere, graceful harmonies, and heartfelt storytelling" (Foxfire Magazine). Melinda has released two full-length studio albums, Beautiful Illusions (2020) and Unbound (2004, with her debut band, MJ Baby and The Last Word). Melinda holds a Ph.D. in psychology / creativity studies, and hosts The Syncreate Podcast: Empowering Creativity (also on Spotify), a show for creative seekers, which explores creativity, psychology, and spirituality. She's also the author of two bestselling books on creativity, one of which won a Silver Nautilus Award for Creativity and Innovation.
