Biography & Metadata

Oedipus Triple Rex (O3R) is a New York City punk band that collides hardcore urgency, garage rock abandon, surf ethos, and towering melodies into songs about conflict, obsession, love, identity, and fighting fate with both fists. Its members make no sense on paper. Dr. Mark B. Borg Jr.—a clinical psychoanalyst, author of books on dismantling toxic relationship defenses, and former frontman of the 1980s SoCal punk band All Nite Rave—cavorts about the stage, tearing through songs with equal parts intellect and raw nerve. Bassist Dr. Rob Lipschutz spends his days in a Manhattan dental office, bringing the same precision forged in Philly hardcore with the Epileptic Albino Bullfrogs to the band’s thunderous rhythm section. Drummer Gordon Ramsey, an accomplished actor and son of New York’s legendary Bozo the Clown, channels that manic theatrical energy behind the kit. Lead guitarist Mitch Owens, formerly of NYC psych/hazegaze trio Jade Tourniquet, wields technical brilliance without ever overshadowing the songs, while guitarist V. Jones anchors the band’s wall of sound with grit and power. Onstage, it somehow makes perfect sense. O3R transforms wildly different lives and deep punk roots into uncommon chemistry. The music is loud, vulnerable, funny, furious, and relentlessly melodic—built for slam pits where friends and strangers alike pick each other back up. Oedipus Triple Rex crafts survival songs for people caught between f—king it up and figuring it out.
