Atelo Songs is the musical identity of Sam Gleason, a multidisciplinary artist, composer, and actor whose work defies easy categorization. With more than fifteen years of evolution, he first gained recognition performing across New York State under his own name, collaborating with bands and theater productions. His powerful voice and offbeat lyrical sensibility, often compared to Elvis Costello and Jeff Buckley, make Atelo Songs a distinctive presence in the indie landscape. Beyond songwriting, Gleason has composed original scores for independent films and multimedia projects, blending cinematic emotion with alternative rock and experimental pop. His work as an actor and film editor has appeared in several independent productions, reflecting his range and storytelling instinct. After adopting the Atelo Songs moniker in 2020, Gleason transformed adversity into artistry. Following an apartment fire, mental health struggles, and an accident that caused long-term injuries and brain trauma, he spent eighteen months in rehabilitation, using music as a lifeline for reinvention. Supported by The Albany Barn artist residency, he released new music nearly every month in 2022, becoming one of the region’s most prolific independent artists.
