Vhuṱala Alex Nemusunda, born on 19 January 1999 in Mailaskop Mundzhedzi, is a South African independent artist whose sound blends Venrap, Kwaito, Hip Hop, Afro Pop, and modern dance influences such as 3 Step and Afro House. Drawing from both traditional roots and contemporary sounds, he creates music that reflects culture, storytelling, rhythm, and everyday life in Limpopo. Inspired by his sister Mapiki through books and poetry, his artistry was shaped by creativity, expression, and the power of words from an early age. Musically, he draws influence from legendary acts such as Dead Prez, Wu-Tang Clan, The Notorious B.I.G., HHP, and Kwesta, combining conscious lyricism, street realism, and authentic African identity into his own unique sound. He is also inspired by Divo Devanger, widely known as Divo Divenja, a respected Venrap artist recognized for representing Tshivenda Hip Hop and the underground Venda music movement through the identity “Ligevhenga la Venda.” These influences helped shape his passion for preserving local culture while pushing modern African music forward. With a versatile style that moves between lyrical rap, melodic Afro-inspired records, and energetic dance rhythms, Vhuṱala Alex Nemusunda continues to build a distinct voice in South Africa’s evolving independent music scene.
