Biography & Metadata
UNSTABLE STATE BETWEEN "ROCK" AND "POP, "LIVE" AND "ELECTRONIC", DARK AND POSITIVE, REALITY AND FANTASY, RETRO AND FUTURISM - HERE AND NOW Interzona is a post-punk / new wave / electronic band formed in NYC at the end of the 1990s by immigrants from the ex-Soviet Union. Throughout the years of its existence it featured rotating lineup with a single constant member – singer, songwriter, keyboardist and producer Mike “MD” Danilin. Interzona music is often compared to such artists as Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Joy Division, New Order, Kraftwerk, Front 242, Covenant, Apoptygma Berzerk and Mesh, as well as Russian / Soviet bands Kino, Alisa, Televizor, Deadушки, Bioconstructor and Technology. The band evenly matches between rock and electronic sound and aesthetics and feels equally at home at a rock show and a dance floor. Danilin’s deep catchy lyrics, passionate vocals and honest, emotive delivery, combined with solid production and powerful atmospheric sound results in the level of energy that virtually electrifies the listener on a wink. Interzona played many live shows and participated in festivals both in the United States and abroad. The band’s discography includes two albums and an EP with English lyrics and three albums with Russian lyrics, as well as several singles.
