Taiwan-based singer-songwriter SherryZ, known for her smoky alto voice, blends classic R&B/soul with modern alt-pop. Raised in a conservative musical family, she trained in classical music but eventually gravitated toward the groovy R&B/soul sounds spanning the past half-century, evoking the spirit of legendary voices like Anita Baker, Amy Winehouse, and Erykah Badu. During college, SherryZ’s talent emerged with multiple singing competition wins. She later gained wider recognition on the talent show Chinese Million Star, reaching 11th place. Her debut EP Night, one of Taiwan's first crowdfunded vinyl releases, was praised as “filling the void of an Adele-like soul diva.” SherryZ’s upcoming album Time, set for release in late 2024, reflects her journey through toxic relationships, career setbacks, and self-redemption. The production team includes notable musicians such as Chen Hung Li from Sunset Rollercoaster, along with top-tier engineers and producers who have worked with Eason Chan, Crowd Lu, and Enno Cheng. The album spans retro soul to trip-hop-inspired alt-R&B, showcasing her vocal depth and versatile style.
