Biography & Metadata
"Get some dope beats, say some fly shit." In the volatile landscape that is today’s music industry, Super Duty Tough Work have quietly been pushing their radical politic of party, revolution and bullshit for close to a decade. An ever-evolving outfit, led by the elusive visionary/renaissance man Ambassador Grey aka Brendan Grey, SDTW provides a very real, slow-cooked alternative to today’s AI-polluted, content-focused, microwavable artist pool that currently dominates the METAverse’s attention economy. Grounded in internationalist politics and the Black radical tradition, Grey has grown SDTW into a respected and closely watched cutting edge voice of dissent and optimism, positioning SDTW as a comfort measure for all those suffering from the crushing weight of late-stage capitalism. Drawing inspiration from golden era, East Coast hip hop and mid 90s UK drum n bass, SDTW have forged their own lane, defining their current sound as somewhere between post-boom bap, alt-jazz rap. Having garnered national and international attention for their ahead of the curve, biting social commentary, tongue in cheek wit and methodically curated live shows, SDTW are two- time Polaris nominees (2020, 2024), one-time WCMA winners (2024) and somehow still, the most underrated, understated killers in your playlist.
