Biography & Metadata

In our original vision, Hańba! was a fictional musical narrative where the characters denounce the evils of their world in the 1930s and 1940s: hatred, authoritarianism, social inequalities, militarism, and anti-Semitism. As a "rebel backyard orchestra," we drew on a unique array of urban folk instruments (banjo, accordion, clarinet, bass drum, and tuba) and interwar poems by Polish poets, which became an inexhaustible source of inspiration and themes for us. In 2024, we performed at the Warsaw Autumn Festival with entirely contemporary material, breaking away from our historical context. It's time to sing about the present, though haven't we always done so?
