Biography & Metadata
Eyolf Dale is a Norwegian pianist and composer whose music moves freely between jazz, Nordic folk, and classical tradition — instantly recognisable, impossible to pin down. Born in 1985 and based in Oslo, he has spent over a decade building one of the most distinctive voices in European jazz. His 2024 album The Space Between Two Notes brought his trio together with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, weaving orchestral richness around the intimate dynamics of a piano trio in a way that blurs the line between jazz and classical music. When Shadows Dance (2025), his latest trio album with long-term collaborators Per Zanussi and Audun Kleive, followed the acclaimed Being (2021) and The Wayfarers — a body of work that has earned him an enthusiastic international following. His sound draws on Norwegian folk, jazz, and classical influences, with a lyrical quality that has drawn comparisons to Chopin — remarkable for a pianist with no formal classical training. He has performed and toured extensively in Europe, Asia and USA.
