Buddha in the Balcony

Buddha in the Balcony is a music project shaped by Julian Chan’s instinct for melody, texture, and emotional depth. The sound sits at the intersection of 80s new‑wave/post‑punk, 90s alternative/electronica, and modern synth-pop sensibilities — gritty, melodic, and built around authenticity as much as hooks. The project started in 2020 and quickly evolved beyond its one-off intent, featuring Julian’s wife Yasmeen as the resident singer and a small creative circle of collaborators contributing vocals, lyrics and instrumentation. Anchored by Julian's music direction, the result is a body of work that is intimate, unfiltered, and evocative. Handful of Fates is their latest release.
