Biography & Metadata

Psychonaut are a trio hailing from Belgium, who have carved out a distinct place in the European post-metal landscape - not by being the loudest or the most extreme, but by being the most deliberate. Stefan De Graef (guitar, vocals), Thomas Michiels (bass, vocals) and Harm Peters (drums) build music that can breathe just as easily as it can crush. The echoes of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Tool are definitely there, but filtered through a modern post-metal sensibility: expansive, dark and never predictable. Their most recent album 'World Maker' (2025), is an ode to the father figure. Written from the perspective of Stefan, who became a father for the first time during its creation, the album took on a deeper weight when both Stefan and Thomas lost their own fathers before it was finished. What started as a celebration of new life had become something more complicated, and the music reflects this without ever spelling it out. Live, that complexity translates into something physical. Three musicians generating a sound that fills rooms far beyond their number, built on the tension between silence and impact, between clean and raw. The vocal interplay between Stefan and Thomas, shifting between soaring harmonies and visceral screams, sits at the heart of what makes Psychonaut's live shows so disarming.
