Biography & Metadata

Ten-time GRAMMY nominee Jamey Johnson has been called “one of the greatest country singers of our time” by The Washington Post. His music, embraced by fans of classic and contemporary country, Americana and mainstream rock, reached new heights with his latest album Midnight Gasoline, released in November by Big Gassed Records and Warner Music Nashville. Grand Ole Opry member Johnson is also celebrated as one of the greatest country songwriters of his generation. He and Kris Kristofferson are the only two artists in country music history to win two Song of the Year awards in the same year—from both the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association—for “Give It Away” and “In Color.” Johnson's songs have been recorded by George Strait, Trace Adkins, Willie Nelson, James Otto, Joe Nichols and others. The New York Times calls him “a first-rate preservationist of classic country songwriting.” Johnson’s prime-time TV performances have been widely praised, from singing “Georgia on My Mind” for CBS’ Willie Nelson’s 90th Birthday Celebration and “Angels Among Us” on CMT Giants: Alabama, to performing “Beer for My Horses” with Lainey Wilson on NBC’s Toby Keith: American Icon. He debuted “21 Guns” on PBS’ National Memorial Day Concert. The RIAA honored Johnson for 9 million sales/streams, including the 5X platinum single “In Color,” 2X platinum album That Lonesome Song, platinum single “High Cost of Living” and gold singles “Between Jennings and Jones” and “That Lonesome Song.”
