Biography & Metadata
Marlee XX is an American music artist, record producer, songwriter, DJ, and industry disruptor known for her genre-blurring sound and forward thinking approach to independent music. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., she began her career in the city’s go-go scene and later founded the 9-piece band Marlee In The Mixx, known for its explosive fusion of soul, hip-hop, pop, rock, and alternative. The group gained momentum with a highly acclaimed weekly residency on DC's historic U Street corridor and performances at SOB’s, Whisky a Go Go, and a headline set in Seoul, South Korea. After the band disbanded, Marlee pivoted to DJing, performing for brands like Hermès, Diageo, Guess, and Versace, while expanding into sync, production, and artist mentorship. Now based in Los Angeles, her music and voice have appeared in major placements including Shonda Rhimes’ Black Barbie Documentary trailer on Netflix, Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black, HBO’s The Hype, Hulu’s The Come Up and commercials for brands like Credit Karma. Her solo debut, "XX Factor", earned critical acclaim and led to performances at the Viper Room, San Diego Pride, and a sold-out tour opening for viral star Qveen Herby. As founder of Forever In The Mixx, Marlee empowers rising talent while preparing a slew of new music for release in 2025, continuing to push boundaries and shape the future of independent music.
