Biography & Metadata
Mōzi (a moniker drawn from her name, Morgan Zinn) is an alt-pop artist shaped by wide open spaces and deep inner worlds. Raised in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula with seven siblings, she was homeschooled and natureschooled, with Chain Lake as her backyard and Lake Michigan just a stone’s throw away. Music became her earliest language, a way to connect with God, others, and herself through songwriting, poetry, piano, guitar, alto saxophone, and choir. She studied music and piano pedagogy at Spring Arbor University under Audrejean Heydenburg and Dr. Mark Douglass, where she developed a deep love for harmony, chord color, and storytelling through sound. In 2016, while studying at the Contemporary Music Center in Nashville, she met producer Evan Eliason. What began as classroom collaboration quickly became a long-term creative partnership, resulting in over 22 released songs and another album on the way. The Mōzi project officially began in 2018 with her debut EP Human, funded by friends and family through Kickstarter. The project featured her breakout single “Honey + Tea,” now her most-streamed song. In 2020, Mōzi signed a sync deal with Musicbed, leading to hundreds of placements across visual media, including a feature in the Apple Memories app. Honest, emotive, and exploratory, Mōzi’s music lives at the intersection of vulnerability and curiosity — constantly evolving while staying rooted in authenticity.
