Michael Banel

DJ Banel, also known as Michael Banel, is a Copenhagen-based artist and the co-founder of the iconic labels Iboga Records, IbogaTech, and Sofa Beats.
 Beginning his DJ journey in his teenage years, he has spent more than three decades taking part in event production, establishing an iconic record label, booking management, creating music and performing across countless countries and stages. With no signs of slowing down, Banel continues to bring his refined taste and unmistakable quality to clubs and festivals such as Boom Festival, Ozora Festival, and Elements Copenhagen among others. Banel is also one half of the duo MVMB (Martin Vice & Michael Banel), a project with more than 40 singles and two standout albums: the hybrid techno/psy-trance release The Sleeper Must Awaken (Iboga Records, 2016) and Phase 01 (Ibogatech, 2019). Alongside his long-time label partner Emok, Banel helps shape a wide range of release projects across their labels, collaborating with artists from many areas within the electronic spectrum. Most recently, he has taken on the role of curator for a new Peak Time Techno series on Iboga Records, as well as the general sound identity on Ibogatech in the efforts of establishing the label at the top of the techno underground. An outlet that reflects his current inspirations, creative directions, the evolving sound of his DJ sets, collaborations, and future productions.
