my friends call me Mel is pastel pop storytelling moniker of Katy, Texas raised artist/songwriter, Melanie M Scheiber. Her palette blends a daydreamer tone mixed with confessional lyricism over a synth-pop lush soundscape painting the picture for her artist project that seeks to write songs that feel like a friend. Since her first artist release in April of 2021, MFCMM has achieved early success with multiple singles, including radio play for “Get Over You” and “Coastline.” Her song “Coastline” won the Sounds of Summer Contest through American Songwriter, as well as becoming a semifinalist in their overall 2023 Song Contest. MFCMM has had notable sync placements with her songs “Time to Come Home” featured in CW’s Sullivan’s Crossing and “Cosmic” in A24’s Critic’s Choice Award nominated comedy “Friendship,” starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. “Time to Come Home” was co-written with Grammy-nominated songwriters Lisa Harriton and Greg Holden, along with colleague Ragan Hoffman. A graduate of the songwriting program at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, she continues to love learning and honing her craft, fostering a passion for uplifting young artists’ voices. Recently moved from O’ahu to Omaha, Mel enjoys collaborating remotely worldwide as well as connecting with local artists/writers, especially as a co-coordinator in her local NSAI chapter. She is inspired by artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, MisterWives, MUNA, Griff, and Holly Humberstone.
