Biography & Metadata

KRL, the artistic identity of Colombian-born Carlos KRL Mera, is a multidisciplinary artist, composer, producer, DJ, actor, writer, and filmmaker. Born in Cartagena and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, KRL established his artistic identity in 2007 and began releasing music in 2009. His sound moves between electronic dance music, house, Latin pop, reggaeton, salsa, guaracha, merengue, Afro-inspired rhythms, and emotional pop, often combining contemporary production with Colombian and Caribbean influences. For KRL, every song is an opportunity to tell a story—about love, desire, heartbreak, celebration, loneliness, or the search for connection. His catalog includes projects such as *#Tangible!* and the upcoming album *12:12*, which continues his exploration of bilingual songwriting and dance-driven production. His electronic single “Fight for What Is Right (Radio Edit)” featuring Emarie received recognition as Best EDM Song of 2022 at the New York Psychedelic Music and Film Festival. Beyond music, KRL creates films and visual projects, bringing a cinematic approach to his music. His work reflects a constant desire to experiment, cross genres, and connect sound, image and stories.
