Biography & Metadata

From Kingston to the Middle East and back to the studio, Zumjay’s life is a testament to evolution. A dancehall veteran with a unique history, Zumjay honed his craft at Penthouse Records, serving as both an artist and an engineer for legends like Buju Banton and Beres Hammond. He first captured the world's attention with the cricket anthem "Courtney," followed by a string of international hits. He is best known for smashing the legendary Diwali Riddim with "Zumjay News" and dominating European reggae charts with "Shake It." His songwriting prowess is industry-verified, having ghostwritten for major acts and collaborated with stars like Wayne Wonder and Sean Paul. In a move unheard of in Dancehall, Zumjay paused his music career in 2008 to serve in the U.S. Military, completing four tours of duty. During this hiatus, he also earned a Master’s Degree from St. John’s University. Now, following his 2020 album Full Circle, Zumjay is marking his official return to the industry with his latest single "Eternal Dancehall."
