Steinar Ytrehus Steinar Ytrehus is a Norwegian songwriter, guitarist, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He started playing guitar at 15 and began recording on a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder. That early fascination with recording eventually grew into a large collection of guitars, microphones and studio equipment. Today he writes, records and produces his music in his own studio, usually playing most of the instruments himself. His music moves between blues, soft rock and Americana, often with a darker, cinematic feel. Inspired by artists such as J.J. Cale, Mark Knopfler and Tom Waits, his songs tell small stories about love, mystery and the darker sides of life. He likes music that feels like a movie, where the guitars help create the landscape. Before focusing on his own songs, Ytrehus made remixes and instrumentals and won several remix competitions. In 2018 he began concentrating on his own songwriting, including vocals and lyrics. His music has since been featured in Norwegian TV productions and on radio. His latest album, True Stories, collects his 11 most recent singles in one album. Written, played, recorded and produced by Ytrehus, it continues his fascination with guitars, atmosphere and stories where it is sometimes hard to tell what is true and what is fiction.
