Mellow Melange

Sonja Firker (vocals, violin). Michael Berger (piano), Ingo Höricht (violin, viola, guitar, composition), David Jehn( double bass, vocals, mandolin, composition) Matthias Schinkopf (saxophone, clarinet, flute, percussion) Mellow Melange, the band around the charismatic singer and violinist Sonja Firker, makes highly emotional music for heart, head and senses, catchy and rousing and yet sophisticated and refined. Is it jazz or pop? Folk, chanson or even classical chamber music? The band has long since stopped giving verbal answers to such questions and instead makes music, writes songs and instrumentals, produces new albums (there are now thirteen) and creates its very own, distinctive style. The current album “Caravan of Illusions” was named “Best English-Language Album of the Year” at the 2024 German Rock & Pop Awards, and the album's title track received the award for “Best English-Language Song of the Year.” Countless concerts in clubs, churches, theaters, concert halls, community centers and at festivals, e.g. at the Beethovenfest in Bonn, a tour with the Rhythm Kings & Bill Wyman (bassist of the Rolling Stones), concert tours to Switzerland, France, Turkey and the Netherlands, projects with a wide variety of guest musicians and actresses of the Bremen Shakespeare Company and, last but not least, the work on 12 studio and live albums so far have allowed the ensemble members to grow close together, both personally and musically.
