Biography & Metadata
Radoune Naim (born in 1977) is a Moroccan musician traditionally recognized as a Maâlem, or "master musician," in the Gnawa tradition. Born in Marrakech, Morocco, he embarked on his musical journey at the age of 13 under the guidance of his grandfather, Maallem Houssain El Gnaoui. Radoune Naim is renowned for his deep and intense voice, which has made him one of the most sought-after Maâlems, both in Morocco and internationally. In addition to his singing, he plays the guembri, a three-stringed bass instrument. He is known for blending Gnawa rhythms from the northern and southern regions of Morocco with world rhythms like jazz.
