Fanchon

Fanchon are stirring the cauldron with their blend of grunge, shoegaze and 90s NU. Think Deftones fronted by Lana Del Rey, the softness of voice over an anvil of riffs. One part French, four parts English. The band stands out through their equal emphasis on lyrical worldbuilding and clearly defined aestheticism, hearing heavy but seeing lightly. Currently gigging alongside bands like mishikui, Prodigal, CARNE and A VOID. Electrifying first EP ‘heaven, unfamiliar’ came out July 2026. The 5 track EP incorporates 3 electronic interludes taken from their dynamic mixed media live set. Fanchon intends for listeners of ‘heaven, unfamiliar’ to feel catharsis and empowerment by their blend of hauntingly dreamy layers, metallic intensities and thematic melodies. Each song meticulously interweaves metaphors and references past material, with words inspired by the likes of Sylvia Plath and Baudelaire. Fanchon places equal weight on literary and sound, leaning on happenstance by ‘drag and dropping’ fleshed out poems onto instrumental demos according to synesthesiac ambiences. ‘heaven, unfamiliar’ is about breaking free from the inhibitions that make us feel restricted and darkened, in order to reach towards unimaginable magnitudes.
