Biography & Metadata

Hailing from Krypton with a mission to play arty and progressive rock. Yobrepus made their debut on the Oslo based indie-label Furuberget in 2017. The album, Blakc Mould, was an eclectic collection of experimental, but melodic songs which Prog magazine later described as a mix of Radioheadinspired sadcore, trip-hop and quirky indie-folk. Their sophomore album, Mycelium Days, came out on Apollon Records Fall 2020 and ventured into a more progressive territory. The album got some great reviews from the worldwide prog community. «Oslo-based studio project switches moods in style on second album» – Prog magazine «Mycelium Days is a superb effort and I for one will be keeping a close eye on this band for hopefully years to come. Recommended» – Sea of Tranquility «Transcends and even defies categorisation, and a rigid summary of what this fabulous album sounds like is essentially a redundant and rather futile exercise» – Eternal Terror In 2024 Yobrepus released their 3rd and 4th albums – the two part genre-bending «rock-opera» A Rhizome Revolution – which explores our ongoing polycrisis: devastating climate change, toxic pollution, extreme inequality, the existential threat of AI, resource scarcity, and the crisis within our political systems. Members: Mats Jørgen Sivertsen – vocals, guitars and keys Vegard Weyergang Vartdal – vocals, bass and synths Paal Urdal – drums Øyvind Rognerud – keys and guitars
