Biography & Metadata

Singer, songwriter, musician and performer, Malika Ayane has built a career driven by curiosity, versatility and a constant desire to explore new forms of artistic expression. Born in Milan in 1984, she studied cello at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi and sang as a chorister and soloist with the Children’s Choir of Teatro alla Scala. Her recording career began in 2008 with her self-titled debut, followed by Grovigli, Ricreazione, Naïf, Domino and Malifesto. In 2026 she returned with cicale, her first album of new material in five years. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with some of Italy’s most distinctive artists, including Paolo Conte, Gino Paoli, Ornella Vanoni, Pacifico, Francesco De Gregori, Giuliano Sangiorgi, Cesare Cremonini, Paolo Fresu, Francesco Bianconi, Paolo Benvegnù and Dargen D’Amico, as well as international artists such as Jazzanova, Biréli Lagrène, Vince Mendoza and Alva Noto. Her artistic journey extends beyond music into theatre, radio, television, cinema and literature. On stage, she has starred as Eva Perón in Evita and as Grizabella in Cats, while in 2023 she published her first book, Ansia da felicità, with Rizzoli. Across nearly two decades, Ayane has moved freely between music, performance and storytelling, always embracing new creative territories.
