Blonde Redhead — are the beloved rock trio of Kazu Makino and Italian twin brothers Simone and Amedeo Pace — Following their critically acclaimed 2023 album Sit Down for Dinner, Blonde Redhead return with The Shadow of the Guest - a dreamy, slightly uncanny reimagining of their recent work, out on June 27, 2025 via section1. Enlisting the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, the band offers newly expanded versions of “Before,” “Rest of Her Life,” and “Via Savona,” alongside fresh takes on the Rick and Morty-featured internet hit “For The Damaged Coda,” including a mariachi-inspired rendition that’s equally mesmerizing and unexpected. Kazu Makino also contributes a series of ambient ASMR tracks, adding an ethereal quality to the collection. A surreal companion piece to Sit Down for Dinner, The Shadow of the Guest explores themes of innocence, nostalgia, and sonic curiosity. Kazu explains that the album first began as a soundtrack for longtime friend Isabel Marant’s fashion show: “I told her I want to make ASMR using parts and fragments of our songs. She came with me to the studio in Paris, wrote phrases in French and we had a good laugh at my pronunciation.” The sessions evolved into a deeply personal creative experiment, resulting in the inclusion of several ASMR tracks that didn’t make it to the final runway mix. “This is an important release for us,” Kazu says. “They’re not just a rendition of the latest but a long dream that finally came true.”
