Biography & Metadata

Christos is a British-Greek composer who grew up in London. He achieved Grade 8 cello at 12, and went to Westminster School on a music scholarship. At 15, his first orchestral work was performed in Austria and Germany, and at 17, a choral lament was performed in Westminster Abbey. Alongside an MEng in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, Christos formed the indie band “Black Peppercorns” and took Imperial’s music technology course that introduced him to the world of music production and sound design, helping shape a creative voice that brings together orchestral tradition and contemporary sound. Now 27, Christos releases his debut album. Recorded and produced in Athens, “Solace and the Wave” is the culmination of years of artistic development. From intimate solo pieces to atmospheric electronic soundscapes and sweeping orchestral works, the album explores themes of history, mythology and the natural world. Central to the album is a fascination with the emotional depth of orchestral music. Christos performed many parts himself, alongside guest musicians Alexandros Arkadopoulos and Dionisis Vervitsiotis, with engineering by Elias Koutsoulieris. Influenced by the English pastoral tradition of Ralph Vaughan Williams, the elegant orchestral architecture of Alexandre Desplat, the rich harmonic language of Thomas Newman, and Ludwig Göransson’s fusion of symphonic and electronic sound, Christos pursues a career in film, television and interactive media.
