Lui Mafuta

An electronic producer and live performer whose focus is on the rhythmical perspective, which emanates from a love of baselines forged from ‘funk’ and ‘bounce’. Falling in love with the Boom Bap of the 90s fuelled his endless beat building and curation of hometown events. His story’s trajectory landed him neatly into the electronic music genre - attracted by the flexibility of downtempo. Within the freedom of this genre, he could combine old-school synthesisers into experiments on modular versions, all under the umbrella of his distinctive musical identity. The tonal stories of his sound today have their own unique style - somehow never far away from an improvised jazz solo or rap part. Whether he’s bold with vocals and lyrics or looping a simple but plucky synthesiser ballad - you’ll know it’s Lui Mafuta just by listening in. His motivation? Continue discovering the musical works of others, adding to the pile with his own originals. And the sound? An exciting experience of heightened enjoyment, filled with moments of complete submersion.
