Max Romens

Max Romens has never experienced music the traditional way. He started playing piano at eight and composing by eleven, all without ever learning to read music. Instead, Romens has always played entirely by ear. Hear a song, and he can sit at a piano and find it. Put him in front of the keys with nothing prepared, and music begins to take shape. That instinctive relationship with sound still defines his work today. Rather than staying inside a single genre, Romens creates music that is genre-blending, experimental, and driven first by emotion. His songs explore the feelings people carry beneath the surface—the complicated, beautiful, painful, euphoric, and sometimes contradictory parts of being human. For Romens, music isn’t about following rules. It’s about feeling something deeply enough to turn it into sound. And if a listener hears one of his songs and recognizes a piece of themselves in it, the music has done exactly what it was meant to do.
