Biography & Metadata

Scarlet Joy is my way of making sense of the world, a musical reckoning, born out of a need to tell my stories, to name and face my demons one by one. I’m a songwriter, singer and guitarist based in the Lincolnshire Wolds, creating alternative rock built on raw emotion, distorted guitars and haunting melodies. Influenced by artists including PJ Harvey, Queens of the Stone Age, Nine Inch Nails and Florence &The Machine. My debut album Mourning Pages (2022) explored love, loss, hope and fate through deeply personal alternative rock songs. My EP The Burning Days (2025) was written during my early sobriety, reflecting on addiction, recovery and the difficult process of rebuilding. My latest single, Monster, continues that journey into darker territory, exploring what happens when the people we love and trust bring out a side of us we never expected to see. Monster was recorded between home and Superfly Studios, with my guitars and the bass (Greg Smith) recorded at home, drums (Drew Moore) recorded at Superfly and the track mixed there with Andy Banfield To sing is to transform pain into power. To expose wounds is to begin healing.
