Anja Kotar

Anja Kotar is a Slovenian-born, California-based pop singer-songwriter, producer, and classically trained pianist making whimsical, cinematic, literary pop about books, seasons, memory, girlhood, love, and romanticizing everyday life. Her music blends relatable lyrics, piano-led songwriting, orchestral and classical influences, and imaginative storytelling. After moving from Slovenia to California with her family in 2012, Anja earned a Master’s degree in Music Production from Berklee College of Music. She writes, produces, and records her music from her bedroom studio in Northern California. Her 2022 project 12 Months turned the calendar into music with one song for each month, each incorporating a classical interpolation. Her 2023 debut album Hopeless Romantic tells a romcom-inspired story about finding lasting love. She is now building At The Bookstore, an ongoing literary-pop project inspired by books, book covers, genres, bookstores, and imagined worlds. Anja’s songs have surpassed 10 million streams across platforms and have been featured by Earmilk, Wonderland, Notion, Paste, The Line of Best Fit, and The Music Connection.
