Biography & Metadata

In the short gaps between airport lounges, festival fields and fleeting visits home, Nathan Ball found himself writing songs inspired by a life in transit. New places, new faces and long dusty roads. For the last couple of years, Ball has been on the road as the singer for Faithless, stepping into one of electronic music’s most storied live legacies. These years have taken him to some of the world’s biggest stages, including Glastonbury and the Isle of Wight Festival. Yet it was in the quieter moments of touring life; hotel rooms, trains and tour buses, that his new album ‘What’s New Old Friend?’ began to take shape. There’s a noticeable lightness running through the record, a happier, more open sound than Ball has previously explored. “I guess it comes from a place of pure contentment. Life feels really great at the moment, and I think I’m just taking myself a little less seriously!” Produced by long-term collaborator Max Rad, the album favours texture, groove and atmosphere, weaving together stories of nostalgia, friendship and the passing of time. If Ball’s recent years have been defined by massive crowds and iconic stages, this album feels deliberately human in response. A collection of moments gathered along the road, ‘What’s New Old Friend?’ is a record made in motion, but rooted in presence. A soundtrack to a life lived in transit. RH 2026
