Biography & Metadata

Wino Willy is an Edison, New Jersey-born, Philadelphia-raised producer with an ear for eclectic, mind-expanding instrumentation. A prolific musician with a hard-working DIY ethos, Willy’s beginnings in beatmaking included piecing together instrumentals with belt-driven turntables while cutting and pasting samples in Audacity. It was this resourceful mentality that propelled his career forward at an early stage, helping him to develop his versatile, organic sound and insurmountable work ethic. Since, Willy has taken his hard-earned skills across the country, performing in New York, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, as well as the New Orleans’ Jazz Museum’s Dolo Jazz Suite series- and produced for renowned names like Mach-Hommy, Your Old Droog, Tha God Fahim, and most recently Daniel Son on raw, psychedelic tracks like “Kick the Tree” and “Frog Legs”. He also worked closely with record label Grilchy Party on a series of poignant projects including GRILCHY PARTY FAVORS 3- PASTELS, GRILCHY PARTY FAVORS vol. 1 WINO WILLY- WELCOME HOME BROTHER WILLY, and GodDon’tF%kWitU. His idiosyncratic brand of astral, textural boom-bap has captivated underground audiences, while his production style showcases that he is an artist that refuses to be put in a box. Spacey, sonically rich, and laced with layers of Afro-futurism, Willy’s style is an intriguing combination of expansive, ethereal sonics with hard-hitting boom-bap aesthetics.
