Biography & Metadata
Jonny Hetherington is best known as the founder and singer for Vancouver, Canada based rock band ART OF DYING. As the LEAD SONGWRITER for the band, Jonny has hit the top 15 in America a handful of times, including #4 Active Rock USA single “Die Trying”. His songs have been used in TV & films including the TRANSFORMERS: DARK SIDE OF THE MOON OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK, WWE RAW, ESPN on ABC College Football and THE MURDERS on CityTV. Jonny was discovered by DAN DONEGAN and DAVID DRAIMAN of DISTURBED, which led to signing a record deal with REPRISE/WARNER BROTHERS in Los Angeles. After selling 100,000 records with Warner, Art of Dying left to sign to New York-based ELEVEN SEVEN, and released another full length album, Rise Up. Hetherington has played live shows in nearly every state in the USA and every major city in his native Canada. Writing and performing at this level for 15 years has been an amazing experience for this small town Alberta boy (originally from Lacombe, a community just outside of Red Deer, Alberta). He was raised there by his mom and dad, United Church Ministers which contributes to his writing style. Hetherington both celebrates and questions most everything that comes to us by way of the human experience. The common thread stringing his catalogue together is a message of perseverance, hope and above all, the experience of inclusiveness he offers the person on the other end of the speaker to discover that they are not alone.
